African-American Physician Locator

This African-American Physicians Locator is provided to you after multiple requests from site visitors looking for culturally oriented physicians.  Now that cultural competence of health providers is believed to be important in the patient-physician relationship and in the delivery of good quality care, the Allaboutblackhealth.com editor and medical director has decided to provide a significant listing of African-American physicians holding throughout the United States a leadership position in the National Medical Association (NMA).  Those NMA representatives will put you in contact with other physicians of different fields in your local search for African-American physicians.

The National Medical Association is the organization of minority (black) physicians in the U.S..  It represents and promotes the interests of black patients and physicians in this country. It was founded in 1895.  It operates out of Washington, DC and is made up of different chapters and societies in several U.S. cities. It has under its umbrella close to 30,000 minority physicians, mostly of African descent.  For more details about NMA, click on its link below.

Note: The locator is provided to the site visitors as a public service and courtesy; as such it does not necessarily represent an endorsement by "All About Black Health", its staff and owners.  The site will keep the listing current and accurate as much as possible.

Site visitors may also call the NMA referral program's toll-free number (1-888-662-7497), and use the automated program to locate physicians by specialty and zip code or by location. They may also speak to a trained representative who will assist them in locating an NMA physician in their area.

of the NMA.  If no luck, check: www.findablackdoctor.com (Find a Black Doctor)

Minority physicians who want to be listed here (as we've done below for the Cincinnati physicians), or buy personal ads on our physicians locator can contact us for rates at allabh@allaboutblackhealth.com and fill out a form by clicking .
